New Jersey’s First All-Online Newspaper Launches
TheAlternativePress.com features Dr. Randal Pinkett in Today’s Top Story

NEWARK, NJ (October 2, 2008) -- New Jersey’s first all-online newspaper launched today in New Providence, Summit and Berkeley Heights.

TheAlternativePress.com has a paid staff of 20 freelance reporters and 10 columnists and will cover local and state news and features. The site also boasts cutting-edge movie-quality video streaming.

The Alternative Press is regularly updated and can be read anywhere, anytime, wherever the Internet is accessible. Today’s top story features a video interview with New Jersey’s own Dr. Randal Pinkett, CEO and Chairman of BCT Partners, a former Rhodes Scholar and season 4 winner of The Apprentice. Dr. Pinkett is the author of Campus CEO, The No Money-Down CEO and a forthcoming book, Black Faces in White Places.

Visit http://www.thealternativepress.com/ for highlights on Dr. Pinkett, his thoughts being an entrepreneur, working for Donald Trump and his new book.

"Today, we are witnessing the beginning of the transformation of the newspaper industry in New Jersey,” said Michael Shapiro, editor and founder of TheAlternativePress.com. “TheAlternativePress.com is able to provide high-quality news and information to our readers 24-7, 365 days a year, in a cost-efficient manner. While traditional newspapers are laying off New Jersey residents to stay afloat because of publishing and delivery costs, we are in full-hiring mode.”

Newark’s Most Promising Young Entrepreneur Unveiled

NEWARK, NJ (April 2, 2008) -- Today, Randal will host a book signing and reception for his latest book, Campus CEO: The Student Entrepreneur’s Guide to Launching a Multimillion Dollar Business, at the Paul Robeson Center at Rutgers-Newark, where he will announce the winners of the Newark’s Most Promising Young Entrepreneur Contest. After a month of evaluating business plans and accepting votes at www.randalpinkett.com, the pool of ten finalists was narrowed down to four winners: two winner and two runners up. Tamara Magnum-Thomas was named Newark’s Most Promising Young Entrepreneur for her human relations consulting firm, Sharper Image, Inc. NJIT junior, Michael Amegashie, received the grand prize as Newark’s Most Promising Student Entrepreneur for his business University Storage – a storage service that will help college students store their belongings during summer break. The inspiration for this business arose when Amegashie arrived in America from Ghana to attend NJIT’s Educational Opportunity Programs (EOP). He was in a bind because upon arriving in the summer he had no place to store his things. Fortunately a friend offered to accommodate him, but that experience sparked the vision for University Storage. Amegashie will use the $5,000 prize toward continuing the planning stages and eventual launch of his business venture. The runner-up prizes were taken home by Yvonna Wade and Quaison Carter. Wade was merited for her plans to launch a chain of service and assistance centers for young mothers, House of Hope, and Carter received accolades for his online emergency contact service provider, FetchFIRE.

The Newark’s Most Promising Young Entrepreneur Contest is sponsored by Prudential Financial and Verizon in partnership with the Greater Newark Business Development Center and the Institute for Entrepreneurial Leadership.
