(NEWARK, NJ)- Dr. Pinkett’s Campus CEO Challenge sponsored by Prudential Financial and PSE&G is now accepting mini-business plan submissions from student entrepreneurs and aspiring campus-based business owners throughout the state of New Jersey. In today’s struggling job market, displaced workers, new job seekers and recent college graduates are showing an increased interest in starting their own businesses, but are facing the economic realities of diminished savings and a tight credit market, two financial lifelines that traditionally support new business owners. In these economic times, starting a business is a viable option and a necessary component in the rebuilding of our local and national economy.
This year, Dr. Pinkett’s Campus CEO Challenge launches a Green Business category sponsored by PSE&G, in addition to its existing General Business category. Green business entrants are encouraged to submit an innovative business plan that has the potential to revolutionize industry by working with ecological resources and creating economic opportunities. By submitting an entry, participants will have the opportunity to:
- Receive feedback on their business plan from business experts, and
- Compete for cash prizes and products to accelerate their business growth.
Students currently enrolled and in good standing at a high school, college or university in New Jersey, or that are within one-year of graduation, should submit the story of their existing or future Green or General business venture by Friday, November 9, 2012, to: www.randalpinkett.com/campusceo. The public will be invited to cast their vote online for the business idea of their choice in each category. A panel of local judges will screen the applications and tally the public vote to determine the five semi-finalists. Semi-finalists will be notified by Monday, November 19, 2012.
On Friday, November 30, 2012 semi-finalists must attend and deliver elevator pitches before a panel of judges at the Newark Innovation Acceleration Challenge (NAIC) Awards event at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), to be eligible for placement and prizes. The panel of judges will select the Grand Prize winners, in both the General and Green business categories, and runners-up. Cash prizes and awards will be rendered to finalists post-event.
