Elevate your game

Dear Friends:

As many of you are aware, I am in the midst of our series on my 7 Fs: Faith, Family, Friends, Fellowship, Fun, Fitness, and Finance. This month I would like to pause and extend my prayers and condolences to the families and victims of the recent Boston Marathon bombings where three spectators were killed - including an 8-year-old boy, a Boston University graduate student and 29-year old woman - and more than 200 people injured. Boston holds a special place in my heart as I lived there for five years (1998-2001) while attending graduate school at MIT where, of course, an MIT policeman was shot and killed.  I still have close friends who live there. Earlier this month, I attended the MIT Leaders for Global Operations conference where I had the opportunity to connect with MIT administrators and friends in the area who were affected by this tragedy. Hearing their personal accounts of how that horrific day changed their lives gave me a deeper appreciation for the depth of what happened that day in Boston. While many difficult days lie ahead and some question what will become of the world's oldest annual marathon, I have no doubt that Boston Marathon runners and spectators will return stronger and continue their triumph over terror. Boston has proven its resilience in the face of adversity time and again, and I am certain that the strength of character and resolve of its people will see the city through this most challenging time yet again.

Peace and blessings,

Randal Guest Hosts on Arise America

Last month, I had the distinct pleasure of serving as a guest host on Arise America, a New York-based morning talk show covering a range of current issues, from pop culture to political, that appeals to the interests of people of color in diverse communities. I sat down with the show’s anchors, Debbye Turner Bell, formerly of CBS and Miss America 1990, and Christina Brown, formerly of MSNBC, to talk about the day’s news. It was a  fun and exciting experience for me, and I am happy to have been a part of such a groundbreaking new show. Arise America airs Monday through Friday from 10 am-12 pm ET online at www.arise.tv and by satellite in the UK, Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Enjoy!
